Un joc excelent trebuie să aibă toate cele trei elemente de mai sus și încă ceva în plus. Last of the Heroes, la apariția sa, nu întrunea niciuna dintre condițiile care l-ar fi putut clasifica drept un joc bun. Cu timpul, însă, compania producătoare, Arc Games Entertainment, i-a adus tot felul de îmbunătățiri, scoțându-l astfel din anonimat. Devenind un joc bunicel, acesta a început să se răspândească pe tot globul, aducând companiei profituri tot mai mari. La scurt timp după ce Marc Evans își creează cont și începe să joace Last of the Heroes, el trece prin câteva experiențe îngrozitoare: devine martorul unor scene macabre, în care oamenii sunt omorâți în fața lui de către un individ ascuns în spatele unei mantii negre. Mai mult chiar, Marc simte agonia victimelor de parcă el ar fi cel ucis. Din acest motiv, renunță să mai joace. Dar coșmarurile nu dispar, îl urmăresc chiar și după ce se îndepărtează de tehnologia de realitate virtuală. Ma trezesc imediat si deschid ochii. Uitandu-ma in jur si vad un om, care tragea, dupa el, o pancarta. Tresar un pic de frica si apoi ma linistesc imediat. Arata ca un simplu boschetar, si nu ca un traficant sau vreun hot. De altfel, nu aveam pistolul dupa mine pentru a-l putea opri. Il uitasem acasa in toata graba si nebunia cu ORLANDO. Daca ar fi aflat colegii de la sectie ar fi ras de mine. Un ofiter de politie, fara pistol, la ora asta tarzie, intr-o statie de tren pustie. Scenariul perfect pentru a face glume pe seama mea in urmatoarele doua saptamani. Noroc ca stiam ceva miscari de auto-aparare. Boschetarul parea foarte batran asa ca nu exista nici o sansa sa faca ceva aiurea. Era inofensiv. Asta pana cand am citit mesajul de pe pancarta. "Demonii sunt printre noi!" Am incercat cu greu sa ignor mesajul acela, insa in zadar. Omul asta era nebun... Betivanul se aseaza pe o banca alaturata si inspira adanc, de parca ar inhala aerul din statia de tren. Imi ridic bluza si o miros. Oare m-am dat eu cu prea mult parfum? Sau ii place mirosul de peste stricat din statie? Apoi, isi strange pancarta la piept si incepe sa rada intr-un fel inspaimantator. - Stii,... - incepe el sa vorbeasca, oprindu-ma din holbatul la pancarta la mesajul ala care imi facea pielea de gaina - ... demonii chiar sunt printre noi.
