After giving birth a year after marrying Mako, Korra dies at childbirth and like the cycle of the seasons, the Avatar cycle began a new. However sixteen years have past and the avatar has yet to be found in the earth kingdom. A chaos erupts in the spirit world, Mako's daughter Hanabi, a fire bender is sent to live with her cousins in Ba Sing Se as her father sets out to figure out what is going on in the spirit world with his brother Bolin. As the world is in need of an avatar, Hanabi encounters a boy might turn out to be the world's hope of survival.

Native fire bender, Valentine Hisao-Hisato, has left the comfort of the Fire Nation to Republic City after her 18th birthday. Meanwhile Tazu, a native earth bender and the previous avatar, was found dead after 17 years. While the world waits anxiously for the new avatar, Valentine is just trying to start her new life.
