Twelve months since she disappeared... maybe... maybe I should give up? Yes, Tug replied, this is getting unhealthy... speaking off, can I have an apple? Twelve months after Alyss Mainwarring, Will Treaty's wife, disappeared, Will is still determined to find her. So far, he didn't have any luck. He knows all his friends have given up on hope that she's still alive. But not Will. It's driving him mad, quite literally. Yet, when he comes home, for his monthly check-up with Halt, he finds something that changes everything. Yes, you're allowed to hate this, and me, because I know it sucks, and I know I have no heart, and I know I can't get the characters right. Basically a Ranger's Apprentice short story featuring our favorite characters and a lot of emotions. Disclaimer: Most characters and events referred to belong to John A. When two Rangers mysteriously go missing it's up to Halt and Will to find them. However things don't go as planned and soon they find themselves trapped in the clutches of a past enemy, the Genovesans. While imprisoned they learn that the assassins are in league with the Temujai who plan on invading Araluen. Will they be able to escape... or is this the end?
