Stephen never told Tony exactly how he saved his life in the aftermath of Thanos's destruction. He never broke rules, especially ones pertaining to natural law. Except...he couldn't stand by and watch the man he'd fallen in love with over countless timelines die. Now, despite their obvious feelings for each other, he's too scared of telling Tony exactly how he'd saved his life. Now he has to watch the man he loves fall in love with another. Loki is trying to carve a new life for himself on Midgard, untrusted by his people and those of the planet which offers him sanctuary. When he learns that Tony Stark knew of Thanos's manipulations involving the Sceptre, they strike up a friendship, leading to an aching fondness and affection for the mortal.
