Her heart hammered in her chest, pant after pant, she continued. Her world was spiraling out of control in a matter of seconds. One day she could go home the next she was trapped in isolation. Her breaths become more shallow as her fist swung at the punching bag. Her frustration and anger flew through the bottom of her toes to her finger tips release after every hit. She used that strength to send the bag toppling to the ground. Coughing from exhaust, she wiped the bead of sweat from her forehead, chugging down the bottle of water next to her. Closing her eyes, she thought of the chaotic past week. "You don't belong here, leave and don't return" Her father's voice echoed in her head. It held onto her brain making her lose her thought. She was falling apart, yet no one noticed. "You indolsent little creature, you were never meant to be alive. You should have left right with your worthless mother". Sighing she let her head drift somewhere else. Looking around she noticed it was half past noon and the gym slowly filled up with people. ... As she walked out the door with backpack in hand, she heard her father whispering. "It's done, she's gone. Now take her off the list" He whispered harshly into the phone Ignoring the flare of hope in her heart she walked out the door, hearing her father snarl "You promised" before he flung his phone at the wall. Anger evident on his face.

I see the creatures lurking in the dark. Hidden in the shadows of thick branches of emotion. They stick like they have no feeling to the pain welling up in their chest. A constant throb of aching fouls of hope. I try to get a glimpse of their faces but they all seem blurred and broken. Broken. One word, Two syllables, Six Letters. A word that described me as well. I was like them in some way. But we all shared that connection. But also something else. It hurts to see your crush or love, run into the arms of someone else. Seeking refuge in which you could also provide. It seems as dusk never wants to reach dawn again. Leaving us alone in this never ending world. Being alone is common for me, I was broken beyond repair, and bruised so much, that I would never would be able to heal the scars that jagged and enabled its story into my skin like a knife. It seemed as if I was never ment to live or to have a chance. I would just be the rock on the ground that is used to play soccer when there is no ball. Kicked and rolled around upon the floor, makes the aftermath like a dizzy fright train. Chills ran up my spine as the eyes that dawned upon me stick into its place. My gown flew softly like a light curtain on a windy day. It created an affect that you would see in movies. But this is no movie. Its a reality, and I'm living it. The eyes felt like a lion stalking its prey, waiting for the right moment to capture and devour them in the shredded pieces of the past and present but never of the future. "How do you do it" Tears brimmed my eyes as I watched the sunset slowly, as it crossed the line where sea meets sky. My heart thumped in my chest as a wild animal. I felt caged. We lived in a land of peace and land of sanctuary. There was no wind, no earthquakes, no volcanic eruptions, nor unsolved questions. We didn't recycle because we found a way to non-pollute the earth, it was our home. We didn't have war, nor unknown outbreaks. It was a perfect world a perfect society. Not Really, Not Anymore. A fight broke out disturbing our peace. It made people, our people, to pick sides. They were tumbled into a world they didn't know existed. We had to run and hide and if not, you were already dead. © 2016, Lena El Jarieh Except as provided by the Copyright Act November 7, 2016.
