"Why can't you just let your guard down for once and trust me?" Karen demanded angrily. His dark eyes blazed at her statement. "What, did I hit a soft spot?" She continued sarcastically and he flinched. "Just be quiet." He ordered. She took a step closer, ignoring the way the air around them had suddenly became strained. "Why?" She whispered, her mocking tone only fueling his anger, "are you so afraid of people actually caring about you that you pull out all the stops to make them hate you? Because if so it's working." "You know, maybe I don't let anyone in because every time I do they always leave! Every. Single. One. They think they can fix the poor blind man, and leave when they realize it's impossible." He shouted, his veins straining against his pale skin. "I-" Karen started, but stopped when his cold voice interrupted her. "Just get out." #19 in Chicklit 10/13/17 #9 in Chicklit 10/28/17 [Description will soon change]

I look out into the parking lot and squint to make sure I'm not going crazy. Walking up with a bouquet of flowers is Justin. He's wearing a muscle tee, and my eyes settle on the part of his tattoo that's not covered up by the plastic holding the flowers. When he reaches me, I feel my face heat up and before I can say anything, he hands me the yellow roses. "I think we need a do over, and I'm not letting you go. But um...here's to friendship until then. If you'll accept." He looks so flustered and unsure of himself as I eye the flowers but don't take them immediately. It takes a long time for me to both find my voice and lose my pride. Finally I do something neither of us expect, and hug him by his neck. "Okay," I whisper, and don't let go.
