Due to an unwanted marriage proposal between Karkat's father and his new fiancée, Mrs. Leijon, Karkat is forced to move into a new house. This unfortunately comes with a new school, and when the star football player starts to get under his skin, he's forced to stoop lower than ever before. ((Haha I suck at descriptions. Family tends to bring out the worst in people, and this family is nothing but problems, especially for two lovebirds such as Dave and Karkat. John Egbert is just a normal boy without a voice, and his life is suddenly changed when he becomes the target of a blood-thirsty Dave Strider, who's interest becomes peaked after nearly killing the little one, and a bromance begins between the two. Honhonhon, will the bromance stay a bromance? Or will it become something else entirely? [It starts out with John at six years old for a backstory, but it will only last for one chapter. He will end up being sixteen]

John is the new kid, with everything that comes with that title; awkwardness, shyness, and attempts to make friends. Except all of this is made even worse with the fact that he's deaf. Dave is your stereotypical resident coolkid. Except he's not. He's a huge nerd, but most people find him intimidating, what with his shades and the fact that he doesn't talk to anyone. Or rather, that he can't talk to anyone, being mute. The two get paired together and form a close bond quite quickly, to the surprise of most of the school, but to none of their friends'. ((I really suck at descriptions. Also, updates for this aren't set, so be prepared for longish waits between chapters or several at a time.))

Dave Strider would never say he was depressed. He was troubled, but he never thought about suicide. That was, of course, until he met Karkat Vantas, who changed his views on the world and on life itself. However, depression is a slippery slope. Will he be able to pull them free from it's grasp? Or will he die trying? If you've ever watch Sala Samobojcow or The Suicide Room, you'll like this. It's not going be be exactly the same, so don't expect someone to die!
