Maki isn't too sure that it's possible, but Kaito will not be swayed. He is determined that he will take Maki to the moon, no matter what it takes. At the trial, Maki was in denial. Kaito killed Kokichi...to protect her? Before his execution, he turns to her and gives her his jacket. The next few words out of his mouth are sincere: "I love you, Maki. Go to the moon for me, okay? " "...Okay. I love you too...Kaito Momota..." He dies. Two years later, Maki is still on Earth. She never took off Kaito's jacket, even to sleep. Despite how impossible it seems, she clings to the hope that Kaito is still out there somewhere, looking for her too.
