Valerie "Val" Wishart is a 15 year old girl from Malibu California. She's lives with her mother and her three younger brother's and attends BOOMS which is a science oriented school. Val is extremely smart and loves science above all. She also likes skateboarding and she volunteers at the animal shelter a couple of days every week. When she just has started her sophomore year she meets Parker Rooney. He and his family just moved to Malibu from Stevens Point in Wisconsin and on his first day he shows that he's really smart. Val, who up until now has been the smartest kid in their school, gets an academic rival. What starts as rivalism soon turns into a friendship and as more days pass by, will these two young scientists encounter love?
