This story takes place in Florence, Italy (during 1400’s to 1500s). During this time the Renaissance Era took place. I chose this time period because it was a time of rebirth for many different areas of culture. During this time period, which began in Italy and then spread through the rest of Europe, many discoveries were made in various areas of art and science. Most of the ideas developed during this time have led to a lot of things in our modern day society. I chose Leonardo da Vinci as my main character because although he is mainly known for his contributions in art, he also made many other discoveries. (In things like architecture, civil engineering, astronomy, anatomy, zoology, geography and many more.) Da Vinci was a man of many talents and interests. He’s a good example of a “Renaissance man”.
