A while after the events of Sun and Moon, Professor Kukui invites the Reader, Hau, Lillie and Gladion on a trip to the Kanto region. But when they return, the Reader runs into some strange people who claim to come from the Ultra Worm Hole. They ask for assistance in fear of the Legendary Necrozma coming into Alola. Just what exactly happened that made Necrozma so bad?

After an unfortunate accident, you and your brother go to the Alola region. Nervous but eager, you meet a lot of nice and unique people like Professor Kukui, Lillie, and others. You even get your own Pokémon! But speaking of Lillie, you soon run into her brother: Gladion. Rude and sometimes even selfish, he seems to have a thing towards weak trainers; hate. But you're a weak trainer yourself. And yet surprisingly, he doesn't act that way at all around you. When Moon travels back to the Kanto region to start a new adventure and confront her past, she unknowingly stumbles into a prophecy that her father, a Kantonian scientist, was trying to protect her from. Meanwhile, Gladion struggles with his feelings for Moon, and whether or not she feels the same about him.
