You could fix the broken, but you can't mend the scars. You can't fix the shattered, but you can throw it out, even replace it.
The shattered is useless, a waste of space. A reminder of a mistake. Something everyone throws away. The shattered is fragile, and could break into smaller pieces at any moment.
The broken is something people grieve for. They try their best to fix it, and over time, it becomes fixed. But it still has the scars.
What happens when the shattered and the broken are both people. Will the broken be fixed, and will the shattered be thrown away?
