Silas Colby has lived in the dustbowl of a town, Gold Creek, for a little over five years. After living there for so long, he is shocked to learn of an entire lemon farm just outside town he has never heard of before. Not only that, but the family that owns the orchard is just plain... Bonkers! Especially the twenty two year old daughter, Penelope Montgomery. Not only do they grow lemons, but they make their own lemon drop candy! However, when Silas starts asking around Gold Creek, the townsfolk clam up tightly and Silas suddenly finds himself tied up with an unjust justice system as well as hearing a rumor of an old curse. As he digs deeper, robberies, mounting superstitions and a flood of biblical proportions threatens to turn this sweet fairy tale sour.
