Sixteen-year-old Mara Westray has just lost her mother, and now, being shipped off to live with the father she doesn’t know is not how she imagined grieving. She’s already counting down the days until she turns eighteen and can leave the tiny island of Swans Landing. But from the moment she steps off the ferry, nothing is as ordinary as it looks. Whispers of a haunting song on the wind make her see impossible things, and she isn’t sure she can trust her judgment about what is real and what isn’t anymore. Maybe she can’t even trust her judgment about quiet Josh Canavan, whose way of speaking in riddles and half-truths only confuses her more, luring her deeper into the secrets hidden beneath the ocean’s surface. As she tries to unravel the events that led to her mom fleeing the island sixteen years ago, Mara finds that the biggest secret of all is only the beginning. When fifteen-year-old Eden Paris discovers that not only is she not human but rather, a descendant of gods and angels, a demiangel, she is plunged into the world of the Ethereal Society, a society of the higher half-bloods. Eden is determined to sever herself from the world she thought only existed in books and fairytales but it seems that the only way to get out of the mess her Scent caused her was to tie herself to the handsome yet intolerable and haughty young William Sage as his Consor, a warrior sworn by blood and soul to protect his other to death. Something stirs outside of the protective barrier of the Sanctuary. More and more demiangels have been reported kidnapped and hadn't been discovered nor heard from anyone. When Eden learns that her best friend is in grave danger, she is drawn deeper into the secrets of the Hidden World. In this adventure packed novel, Eden learns that some things are rather much better off hidden under the covers of her books.

Beautiful cover made by the very awesome ssaayyjj "At first glance, I really did wonder why the old lady had seemed so adamantly opposed to this town because it didn't look scary at all. Maybe she was balls-out against capitalism and nice houses-her smell could have foreshadowed it-because the place looked nice. Very nice. The streets were almost uncannily clean, at least compared to the ones I was used to back in Detroit. The Victorian styled houses, more often white than anything, belonged in those decorating magazines, with the lawn perfectly cut and surrounded by white fenced with American flags on them. I could almost imagine the husband laying on the lawn, butt in the air, with scissors and a magnifying glass grooming the grass to make it look this perfect. They undoubtedly used fertilizer and other toxic things to make it so green." When Oksana arrives in Hebron, Connecticut, she is not there for the scenery; she is there on a mission, seeking answers from her biological parents to all the whys that have been pledging her mind for years. The last thing she had expected was to be caught in the middle of a century old curse... and to actually want to stay tuned for more.
