"War never leaves a man, it follows him wherever he may go. It haunts him, looms over him like a rain cloud. Its always there. Even years after the fight, war never leaves a man." Lou Miller was an average, twenty one year old living in St. Louis, Missouri. Wanting more from life he enlisted into the United States Army, not fearing the rise of the Third Reich, he saw that as Europe's war. On December 7th, 1941 that all changed, Japan had attacked America, and Lou, along with the rest of the 1st Infantry Division, was thrust into a raging conflict that became known as The Second Great War.

Mark Johnson is a 21 year old college dropout with a poor history of love. His background coming from a rough, poor and low life family, he was never popular or social. Considered a smartass, he was very smart and maintained excellent grades until his dad died when he was 15. With the world thrust onto his shoulders, he could do little more than work to make ends meet, so he thought he was smart when he joined the USAAF after Pearl Harbor. But while in service, he finds himself caught in an internal battle, between love, life, and survival.
