Alastair has spent considerable time and effort organising a garden party in honour of the distinguished couple's fiftieth wedding anniversary, to which Edmund and his new family are invited. With fine cuisine, deluxe drinks and a variety of recreational activities in the grounds of the beautiful Mossmere House, it seems nothing can spoil the party atmosphere. But when Hugo gets bored and decides it would be fun to play his own special game with Alastair, he unwittingly unlocks an undeniable chemistry that neither of them can ignore. Caroline loves her new friend Lily. They do almost everything together. But as time goes on, it becomes more and more apparent that Lily is not everything she seems to be. Where did Lily come from, what is she hiding, and what's the real reason for their intense friendship? For those of you who are already familiar with my writing, I should let you know that this short story is nothing like anything else I've written. I wrote it as a birthday gift for a ten-year-old girl. She devoured the whole thing in couple of hours and when she finished, she told me she loved it. This ten-year-old girl is very girly, she likes unicorns and rainbows and magical worlds, but she also likes Sci-Fi and scary, threatening bad guys. As a result, the genre of this book is quite niche, and it may not be appropriate for every ten-year-old. There are some confrontations I would categorise as "mild peril." Spoiler Alert: If you're a parent looking for something for a child of a similar age, there are two deaths in this book and so you may want to check it out first because I recognise every child is different. (The girl I wrote is for said they weren't graphic deaths, and she was fine with both in the context of the story.) Anyway, she asked me to put it out there for others to enjoy, so ... enjoy.

This story was the result of a FreeTheLGBT competition prompt and ended up winning the contest. The challenge was to create a short story (less than 1000 words), involving a text message received on Valentine's Day and involving an LGBTQ+ character. So, in 993 words, this was my Valentine's Day offering.

This is a collection of my poetry. Each individual chapter is a standalone poem, and they aren't in any particular order. I'll add to it if I create any more, but they tend to be spontaneous so I don't have a schedule for updates. "Gates of Heaven" is the name of my favourite special limit hand in Mah Jongg, which I play regularly, hence the name is somewhat personal.
