As a child Winter Octavia Woods would want nothing more than to go into the Winter Woods (the woods she was named after) and cut down a Christmas tree with her family. But now, she's 17, her mother has died, and she doesn't want the painful memories of going into her mothers favorite place. That is until a mysterious boy comes to her school. Winter finds out she is not like the rest, that she had the ability to control snow and ice. She finds more people like her, or more like they find her.
