Seven years after Galbatorix has fallen, Alagaesia is in a state of peace. Eragon, having spent almost a decade away from his home, returns bearing grave news of a new foe- The King of The North, who's armies are vast and bloodthirsty. Together, he, Arya, Murtagh, and the rest of the Riders fight to maintain the peace, protect those who they love, and ultimately try to combat the latest usurper who poses a threat to their homeland.

Eragon and Saphira have traveled east down the Edda river, out of Alagaesia and into unexplored terrain. They must find a place to train the future dragon riders and keep the eggs and Eldunari safe. Meanwhile the few eggs left behind in Alagaesia have already begun to hatch, the riders need a teacher. They need Eragon.
