Dean has a rough time at home, His father has been a heavy drinker since Dean and his brother Sam's mother died. Most all of the time Deans father gets very abusive and Dean always takes every swing without a complaint in an effort to protect his younger brother. Because of this Dean began using self arm as an escape from all the crap he gets from his Dad. But things change when the Novak family moves in across the street and Dean meets Castiel Novak. Dean Winchester is nineteen years old and only a year out of high school when he gets sent to the hospital after a argument with his father. Nothing serious occurred, but Dean was required to spend the next few days under observation. While he is spending his time in the hospital of utter boredom, he meets Castiel, a young man the same age as him as a patient of cancer. Forming a quick bond, he begins visiting the boy even when he gets out, but is something more going on?
