Mother's Day At The Orphanage is collection of semi-autobiographical short stories about odd jobs, fake businesses, mistaken identities, close shaves, and near misses, written by David Leigh Abts and Michael Shattuck, edited by Leslie Blodgett, and with the Foreword by Courtney Taylor-Taylor (Frontman of The Dandy Warhols). It is also a collaboration with guest NYC authors and Baltimore/D.C. artists - a chance for a bunch of friends who dig each other's creative work to get together and put something out, and asks the following burning questions. Has Art Garfunkel ever taken your putt-putt club? Was Michael Jackson the focus of your middle school science fair project? Have you ever tried to coax a moth out of your ear with a lamp? [New chapters every Friday]

"I want to grow up" Did you say it when you were a kid? I know I did. Have you regretted growing up at some point in your life? Have you wished you could be a careless child once again? I know you have. Everyone has. The more you grow the bigger the challenges, the obstacles, the pain. Life gets serious. You get serious. You forget to smile at the morning sun shining down your face. You are too absorved by your problems to notice the beautiful world surrounding you. And when life gets hard, you wish more than anything to turn back in time and be that small child who did not know anything when he said "I want to grow up"

Detention is supposed to be a punishment, but for Louis and Harry, it's the start of something beautiful. Unfortunately, what starts off as a harmless love affair quickly takes a turn for the worse. Through all the stereotypes, judgments, family issues, and demons from the past, Louis and Harry struggle to stay strong. What happens in detention, stays in detention. [NOTE: I began writing this book in 2011 when I was 13 years old. There are many grammatical errors, cringe-worthy moments, and plot inconsistencies. Obviously, my writing has improved immensely since 2011, so please feel free to check out any of my more recent works instead. This book is not representative of my present-day writing abilities. I would prefer to delete this entirely (and its sequel), but there have been many readers who have expressed their love and appreciation for this book despite its flaws. Regardless, thank you all for your support with the Detention series over the past few years. I love and appreciate each and every one of you.]
