Haley has social anxiety. After taking a year out of the education system to be home-schooled, she's back as a junior. While she's not ready to take on the world as one might expect, she - at least - wants a fresh start. She knows that she's not the prettiest girl at her new school and by no means popular. Her life takes an unexpected turn when her sister winds up in hospital with an injury that not even the doctors can fix. Will Haley make it to the end of the year without the support of her older sister to show her the way? A Wattpad Featured Story Teen Fiction: #52 Finished: 14/12/13 Edited: 23/12/14 Featured: 22/4/15

High school in the early 90s: it was before cell phones and social media, but the problems were the same. How do you get the guy you're interested in to notice you? What happens if you fall in love with your best friend? Why does physics class keep factoring into your love life? This novella is loosely based on my own high school experiences... but sort of an alternate version of them. You can only make one set of choices in life, so it's fun to explore what could have been - but wasn't - in fiction. Also, set in 1991-92, this is kind of a period piece now! In some ways it's a love letter to the teen books I read back in the 80s and 90s, in particular those by Ellen Conford and Paula Danzinger. I hope you enjoy it. **Winner of the 2016 Watty Awards in Visual Storytelling, and officially a Wattpad Featured Novel!** Two juniors in high school, each fresh out of a breakup, thousands of miles away from each other. Connor Hall and Sydney Porter didn't expect anything to happen when they were assigned to be each other's pen pals at their respective schools, yet feelings can emerge from anything, even simple letters. Written completely in notes, texts, and social media posts, Dear Sydney is a modern take on the conventional love story, proving that you don't have to be close in miles to be close in your hearts.
