The queen so violently turned on him and their child Legolas leaving Thranduil wifeless and Legolas motherless, but Thranduil knew his son was not truly motherless for Ercassiel was there for him she always would be and Legolas was closer with her than he was his own mother.

I had to make a judgement call on whether we’re dealing with Yule or Christmas in this Merlin verse. I went with Yule (there was reasoning, but I won’t bore you with it).
