September 1939. Before the Second World War starts, fourteen-year-old Sybil Vaughn is sent away on one of the first transports out of the city. Despite the apparent importance of it all, Sybil believes she'll be back home in a week and doesn't even say goodbye to her Mum. On arrival in the country, Sybil is billeted with the Goodwin's, a couple in search of some help on their family farm.
