They have to find some way to help their ymbryne, for she is trapped in the body of a bird. Their search brings them to London, the Peculiar capital of the world. The city is in the middle of a raging war, being in the year 1940. Antonia struggles to keep up with her friends as they venture to save their ymbryne. She has too much bearing down on her: The horrifying sights she'd witnessed in both from her first and second Loops, the loss of her best friend, her fear of the Hollows and the Wights, and so much else. Not to mention, her first boyfriend is alive, and he's been turned into a Wight. Antonia pulls at the force of her own will, determined to bend until she breaks.
