University friends Luisa and Kay reunite in Nairobi after a year apart to do some feel good volunteering but their friendship and the trip begin to unravel the moment they meet a strikingly handsome British philanthropist and a Ghanaian entrepreneur. In short order the donor funding the project that has brought them together is revealed to be rich and cruel, her interest in coming to Kenya to "help" routed in deeply disturbing ideology. Meanwhile, Luisa must confront her reasons for maintaining her friendship with Kay, her status as heir to a nearly incalculable fortune, her feelings for a man who seems a little too good to be true and the tragedy she left behind back in California. ** A/N This story is a work of fiction, but it's based on things I saw and heard while working in international development for five years. It's my attempt to find the complicated middle ground between those who would idealize international development and those who would condemn it. It's also a place for me to deal with a difficult friendship I had with a friend who was suffering from mental illness. She's since passed away and I'm not sure I ever really got over it. The story isn't at all done so as I'm writing I'm figuring it out too. I've set the story Nairobi and in Kisumu, which is far west of Nairobi. I've picked the title partly because of what Nairobi represents. Nairobi is a throbbing, innovative metropolis situated in a continent that is still viewed very narrowly as a place in need of help.

Echo wasn't like her sisters. She knew that when people talked about the famous and fabulous Reid sisters, they weren't referring to her. Quiet, homely, plain and riddled with social anxiety that made it hard for her to leave the house, she could never have known what was about to happen, she never dreamed she'd live such an adventure. Luke Farina was the most dangerous man around- spoiled, selfish, extremely conceited- he didn't take no for an answer and always got what he wanted. He just never expected that the strange and ridiculous little Echo would be the one to say no and somehow become the one he had to have most. -- NOTE: Hi everyone! I really hope you take the time to read this story. It's already complete for the most part, in just taking it slow in publishing it. It's my first story and I'd love to hear your comments and feedback. I hope you decide to give it a chance! This is also part one of a series and I'm already midway through the next book which can't be released unless this one gets some positive feedback. Thank you and enjoy!

Travel with Emily as she unlocks the secrets of her Celtic ancestors as she goes on a mystical journey to the inner house and beyond. Join the Journey . . . WHAT READERS ARE SAYING: "Natalie Wright has divined in Emily's House a simultaneous modern and ancient fairy tale of the greatest kind: sans parents, sans immediate consequence, sans cowardice. Bravery is said to be not the lack of fear, but action in the face of it. Like the best of Grimm, Perrault and Charles Schulz, Ms. Wright's kids find themselves amidst adventure, terror and turmoil, as well as ineffective and/or absent parental units. By their own bootstraps they must find help themselves to find their way home, to save not only each other, but perchance an entire civilization. "Adults drool, kids rule" is the motto for any well-written young adult or children's tale. Natalie's kids indeed rule. This one will last, alongside Grimm, Perrault and Schulz, in the coffers of timeless, fantasy literature. Plus, there's Hindergog and no one could not love Hindergog! Well done, Ms. Wright. Well done, indeed." - Jennifer S. Devore, author of "The Darlings of Orange County"
