Anak perempuan manusia terlarang untuk para malaikat. Dahulu kala sekelompok malaikat bernama "The Sons of God" yang terdiri dari 199 malaikat dan dipimpin 7 malaikat tertinggi yang ditempatkan dibumi untuk mengamati dan mengawasi para manusia. Mereka terlalu sering kesepian sehingga mereka mengambil manusia sebagai istri, walaupun mereka tau itu terlarang. Anak hasil dari hubungan terlarang itu di beri nama Nephilim, mereka sangat keji. Mereka memakan daging manusia, meminum darahnya, meneror bumi, dan dalam beberapa kasus mereka kanibal. Raylah, seorang gadis yang harus merelakan kepergian dad-nya karena serangan nephilim, kini harus hidup berdua dengan mom-nya yang super protektif. Ia juga seorang gadis yang mendambakan kebebasan. Saat Raylah mulai bisa melupakan sebab kepergian dad-nya, kejadian-kejadian mengerikan timbul pada dirinya. Ia ketakutan setengah mati, mom tak bisa berbuat banyak. Kemudian seorang cowok misterius mengulurkan tangan untuk jawaban atas pertanyaannya sekaligus kebebasan.
