He built what he remembered of Camelot into the school, such as Gius' place and Arthur's room. Merlin also built extra rooms like the room of requirement and built his own home in there. It all started after Camelot fell after Queen Gwens' reign and after Merlin left. Old religion was remembered as old magic and over time only Merlin used it, and it was also known as wandless magic. What the wizards and witches used today is known to Merlin as new magic. The druids died out after Camelot fell, and so only Merlin was left. It was after Voldemort was defeated by Harry and Dumbledore was killed. Professor McGonagall took over as headmaster and taught that she decided to search for a new headmaster that merlin was found by the most unlikely of people.
