She could feel the pain slowly overcoming her soul. The agony, the grief, taking over all that she once thought was alive in her. She felt so empty that she was sure her whole body will echo if someone was to shake her. But she stood, rigid as though a hundred years old tree, clinging onto the only thing that made her alive; her eyeglasses. Through those glasses, she had seen things she had wished she could erase. She had hated the things she once loved, places she once cherished and the man she grew up to love. It didn't matter who he was to her, his role in her life or even the title he possessed. She was going to take revenge, she was going to make him regret, she was going to make her father cry right before her eyes! But what if he chose to add more pain to her aching wounds? The day he declared her married to a gateman, the strings left attaching her with him were forcefully cut off. And she was certain even if it would take her till eternity, so long as she stayed married to the gateman, her father would never know what happiness felt like!

#1- Sulaiman 26/11/22 #1 - nigerianlovestory 04/09/23 #15 - disappointment 29/09/22 #9- nigeria 14/05/23 The elders go on and on about thesame thing when it comes to marriage. Marriage is Hikmah, Marriage is Rahmah, Marriage is Khayr, etc... True that, Nikah/Marriage/Aure is all of these, but only when it's with the right person. Even with the right person, one must still make a lot of sacrifices and have banks of patience and perseverance, talkless of when one is unfortunately matched with the wrong person. As the latter happened to young, innocent Ummul Khayr of just seventeen who had to get into a fixed marriage just to obey her parents. She decided to let go of all of her dreams and tried to make her to-be husband her Prince Charming. Nothing is wrong with that right? She was only a human who had no choice but to adapt to her fate. This marriage however turned out to be the worst decision she's ever made and the biggest regret of her life. It was far from "full of Khayr(blessings)" as she imagined it would be. She had loved ballet since she was a little girl, but being born from a northern Nigerian family, she had never got to be the ballerina she had always dreamed of. Did she let go of that dream? No, because she would lie for the sake of ballet, she would lie about being married so her mother could let her leave! Yazeed had never been choked up in a mess like this, but he had no choice but to stay mute and watch the drama unfold before his eyes. How would you feel to have a girl lie to her mother about you being her husband right before your eyes? They left, and she got what she had always been dreaming of. She knew she would love him someday, but she had never seen that day to be this close. What would she do? After knowing that their days together were numbered, she had to find another lie to tell her mother for them to find their separate ways. It got to the point that she couldn't pretend anymore, and she asked him the question. "Can I be your Mrs?" Yazeed had heard that question more than he cared to count, but she had never gotten an answer from him. Would he say yes and make her his lawful Mrs without her past life poking up? Or he would say no and live with the regret of not having her in his life? Which would be a topping to his already grieving soul.

Growls emanated from the darkness, just as she had suspected. The fierce wind lashed at the hood of her raven hoodie, wrenching it from its ties, leaving her vulnerable to the freezing winter assault. Fear surged, each breath creating a visible fog. Her heart pounded in her chest, but she refused to give in. She had come too far to let fear overcome her. Summoning every ounce of strength, she sprinted down the dark, unknown path, urging her feet to carry her to a mysterious and enigmatic destination. She would not remain tethered to the stranger her father had forced her to marry while she had been fighting for her life in a hospital bed. How could he have done such a thing to her? Her hatred for him intensified tenfold... The relentless pursuit abruptly halted, her voice releasing a high-pitched yelp at the unexpected sight. Before her stood her rejuvenated nightmare, her husband. She was not the least bit frightened, but the man had pledged to her father that he would stay married to her for eternity. "Seems like we're destined to be shrouded in this ominous darkness," he grinned, his smile dripping with menace, sending shivers down her spine. The desperate words she willed her mind to say failed to escape. Her retort of "Whatever, Police Officer" deserted her.
