He stood at the entrance of his bathroom, his chest bare, his sun kissed hair wet from his late afternoon shower.. He caught my stare and held it with his own making long stride towards me, I swallowed hard. "There's no running away now little girl." He said trapping me with his arms, my back against the wall. "Who is talking about running?" I answered, faking a fierce look... A seventeen year old girl whose life changed as a result of a divorce, and a remarraige. Now it's left for her to decide if the change is for good or bad as she tries to adapt to the life her step father bestowed on her. Now can she do it? Because everything is new now, including her country .. A Nigerian in the midst of Americans is it devastating? Or intriguing?

"Halima?" " You look surprised". she says, struggling to climb out of the trunk of his car, stretching. "How did you__you can't be here! what... how..." he stammers "Do you even know me?" she laughs. "Bilal, the distant son of the Emir, the one whom I've had a tough time unknowing and ignoring". she rests her right hand on his arm. he shrugged it off. "Go back! you are not supposed to be here". he yells. now she held his stare and ignored the fast beats of her heart "No! Never! I'm not going back to that monster nor your sickening culture. if you won't have me then someone else will". she turned to leave. "Wait!". he sighs. she smiled. "you are stuck with me Bilal, the earlier you agree the better." A sneak peak into the old African culture, Halima is a young girl of the Hausa tribe, the second child and only girl of her parents. she is fifteen and is according to the society, ripe for marriage and is already betrothed when she was a little over five years old but Halima is adventurous and seeks more to life. She encounters Bilal and is so much drawn to him but how would she escape the hands of her strenuous culture and embrace the feeling she gets when his eyes meets with hers, although he seems difficult and uninterested but little does she know how uneasy her smile makes him feel and how hard he gets when he hears the sound her voice.
