Prince Will Solace is trapped by fists and knives behind the golden facade of the castle. Also behind those opulent gates, nekos-beings who can transform into cats-are oppressed and treated as mere servants. Among them is Nico di Angelo, a neko with a mysterious past but a strong talent for somehow managing to make the prince believe that perhaps everything is going to be okay. They spend their nights in the castle kitchens, becoming accustomed to each other's presence far more quickly than either would be willing to admit. That is, until things that a turn, and life very quickly becomes very /not/ okay. Nico and Will each pack their bags, not realizing that they're not the only ones fleeing tonight. Nico has never had anyone who cares. They would pretend they do but then leave him and then add to the list of names people have called him. Worthless, waste, dumb.
