John Laurens is dead but Philip Hamilton is born.

Philip's life is a mess. His parents recently got into a nasty divorce, splitting his family in half. Philip went with his father, while the rest of his siblings stayed with their mother. Philip had always secretly longed to be an only child, but not like this. Philip struggled with balancing middle school and his home life as he adjusted to living as an only child with his emotionally unbalanced, but loving father. He feels ready to give up. Then one day, he meets an angel. His name is John Laurens. Modern AU, since that's easier to write. Will contain mentions of Lams. This probably isn't going to be a very happy story. Also I'm not sure whether to tag this as fanfiction or historical fiction.

John Laurens was just trying to get home. He was studying in college when it happened. The new killer disease broke out. Hospitals were sent into Code Black before just shutting down all together. Millions died. Then... they came back. They started walking, biting, scratching, contaminating. Imports and exports to North America were immediately halted. It wasn't safe anymore. All flights were grounded. Ships were docked. They were placed under quarantine. The safest mode of transportation was driving. Of course, main roads had to be avoided to steer clear of thugs and bandits. John just wanted to get home, make sure his family was okay. Along the way, he ran into a group of uninfecteds who took him in. After all, most of them had the same goal: Make sure their families were safe. Or to just stay alive in this new land of chaos. Alex doesn't know why he's helping the boy out. but John is so...unique. In his own way. Without realizing it Alexander became some sort of guardian to this guy, and does what he can to protect him.
