"You see, yes I loved your mother, but she wasn't my choice, she was my parents choice not mine. I married her right after your grandfather died, because it was his soul dying wish. Of course, I fell in love with her over time, and then when I lost her I was heart broken, but it's not the kind of feeling I feel now. I was angry and resentful because she died and I had no one. I felt I was all alone in this world. I was lonely, I admit that, and continued to be through the years. I wore my loneliness behind a mask for many years. But then I met her I felt something new, something I never really felt for your mother. But what made it even more special this time was that, she was my choice."

Maeneth considered becoming Thranduil's personal seamstress after the death of her grandfather, her last blood relative, as her salvation. But as every Sindarin elf knows, the king is a very difficult person to deal with. Young Maeneth encounters obstacles that she will have to endure, such as the king's wrath and poor judgement, and including having the king fall in love with her. A ThranduilxOC fanfic. The title of this story is inspired by "Your Hands Are Cold", one of the songs from the Pride and Prejudice (2005) score, composed by Dario Marianelli, and performed by the English Chamber Orchestra and Jean Yves-Thibaudet. I thought the song could be the perfect theme for my story, and I recommend that you listen to it as you read! The story is set during the time after The Hobbit, and just before and during the LOTR era. Warning: this story contains a mild rape scene.

King Thranduil has everything at his feet. His son, Legolas, a kingdom and a crown with all of its treasures, but what he doesn't have is a companion to share his life with. When Laer steps into his kingdom he finds himself curious about her, what makes her smile, what makes her tick, and most of all, what does this average elf think of the king of Mirkwood? I do not own any of the characters besides Laer and Rovain, everything else goes happily to Tolkien. ** Extremely Slow Updates ** Due to complaints I feel the need to write this... it clearly says slow updates above. It doesn't say completed in the details either. This is an unfinished story. There are slow updates. I have an extremely busy schedule with my full time job, my full time in college and the work load I receive from college and I go through extremely rough patches with my depression to where I do nothing. I have no time to write and in the time that I do, I don't want to force myself to write a chapter because it won't come out as nicely as I'd want it. I understand the frustration of not being able to read a finished story because that frustrates me too, but please be courteous enough to ask why I don't update or be even nice about it. I worry about enough and having readers be angry with me, really upsets me and doesn't really push me to write. If anything, it makes me want to just delete this story all together because I don't know when this will be finished or if it ever will be. Some of you have been extremely supportive for my situation, so thank you for that... again, slow updates and I don't know when this will be finished.

With a good life and everything she needed, Aeolus lived a simple party life. Everyday life was the same and she loathed it. She wished for adventure and romance, like the fantasy stories she read when no one was looking. It was a part of her she loved, creativity and imagination, with sharp wit and cunning thoughts. But that didn't get you anything in this world, but perhaps it did in another. One day Aeolus falls (literally) into another world, far different than her own. Where her life is actually in danger and where dwarves, elves, and wizards are real. Finally she finds herself in a world she always wished to be. But when she's taken prisoner by one Elvenking, who knows what will fair for her? Starts at the beginning of Desolation of Smaug. I go by the movie, not the book.
