Based on Glass Sword, this fan fiction explores a story where Mare Barrow is captured during a newblood recruit in Harbor Bay. Instead of escaping the full wrath of the sounder, Shade is too late in teleporting his sister to safety. Mare is taken back to Maven's sinister kingdom in Archeon and is back to square one. While Mare faces the obsessive, twisted love of Maven Calore, she wonders if she will ever find a way out or if Cal will save her. As Mare spends her time in solitude, she contemplates her relationship with Cal and where it will lead. She ponders avenging her dead brother, Shade. She wonders about her family: Gisa, mom, dad, Kilorn. She thinks of the newbloods that need to be saved. She must fix the mess she created.

When Mare is given the option to save her people and protect her country from war, she feels as if she has no other choice. But what's the price? Will she decide to pay it? And most importantly, if it involves leaving the people she loves behind, will she choose to say goodbye?
