Inspired by a poem by Bianca Phipps I swear I wasn't looking for you. I was only looking for Personality; Classic Theories and Modern Research by Howard S. Friedman and the other person I forgot the name of at the moment. I wasn't looking for a much needed friend. I wasn't looking for someone to talk to. And I sure wasn't looking for someone to love. When I saw you for the first time my heart didn't flutter. I wasn't taken aback by you charming good looks or free-spirited persona. When I first met you I thought you were strange and annoying. But then again statistics show that 80% of all first impressions are actually false. Statistics also show that 76.6% of all statistics are made up; much like the one about first impressions. The world took a turn for the better. There were less problems, less diseases, and less to worry about. Or that's what He told her. Experiment Arcelia 14786 was His favorite. She was so vital to the Lab she inhabited that they painted her door blue instead of the sterile white that plastered everything else. She knew all the passcodes and looked down submissively. She was the perfect experiment because of Him. But when He brings in a new experiment from the Outside called Experiment Varian, she finds herself experiencing change whether she likes it or not. And it's all because of Experiment Varian, the only other one to accept the Red Virus Trial besides Arcelia herself. Unlike the passive Arcelia, Varian isn't going to let the Lab take him down. "If they aren't pretty when they are dead, then why bother keeping the bodies in my cemetery? Just burn them. Burn all of them, and give me the charming ones." I laughed at how psychotic he sounded; or even how psychotic he was."You're young, why do you even own your own cemetery? That can't even be legal." "Why bother concerning yourself over my affairs? This cemetery-" he quickly corrected himself, "My cemetery is the most luxurious and ravishing of them all." He bent down, and began to whisper in my ear, "And I know, that you, my lamb, understand my funeral style, don't you?"

Six teens are devoted to a game with one rule: If a player gets tagged, they must change their life within the next fifteen minutes. The better the player, the bigger the change. One might give their car away, or punch the school bully. Another might change identities or sacrifice their virginity. Anything to keep evolving, to avoid fitting into a label or caring about the junk they own. But their quest for enlightenment has taken a rotten final turn - one of the players has murdered the game's creator, the teen prophet (cult leader?) David Bloom. Our narrator is being framed for the crime; can he clear his name and discover which of his lifelong friends is the murderer before he takes the fall? [sic] is a gritty teen murder mystery that delves into the psychology of enlightenment among the criminally dysfunctional.
