After allowing Gwaine to choose the accomidation, Arthur, Merlin and the knights wake up in a strange pit with no doors, no windows and no way out. But the pit is the least of their problems as they begin to realise they are caught up in something much worse, a game where angels are tested to their limits.

"Arthur, I... I'm here. Don't worry you'll be alright. I promise." Merlin made Arthur drink the potion and he swallowed powerless. "Merlin.. I... feel sick... my mind is burning... all my body is burning..." He was suffering and Merlin felt sorry for him. "You can't think straight... Arthur please listen to me.. You'll get better. This high fever is only temporary. You' ll be fine.. I know it hurts now but" before he could finish the sentence, Arthur grabbed his face with all his remaining power. "Merlin there's something I want to say..."

Merlin is left in charge to care for his own kingdom, Aeyland. While in the midst in the course of events, Merlin's mind is a blank slate-all memories of Arthur now washed away. Things are going smoothly, until Merlin gets a sudden sense, rushing to a certain lake. There, Arthur rises. Merlin has no idea who the 'stranger' is, and why he was called upon his awakening. And Arthur realizes he'll have to start over with Merlin, hoping those drained memories will make an appearance once again. He just doesn't know if Merlin will ever be the same way again.
