Pacifica and Wendy Pines' father never revealed much of his past to anyone. It seems out of place when during the summer, their father agrees to let them spend their summer vacation in his childhood hometown with their great uncle, whose mind is slowly going away, a college girl whose smile betrays secrets more than satisfaction, and an ex-prodigy child whose show mysteriously disappeared. Though simple solutions are given to both Pacifica and Wendy, answers do not match and only lead to more questions. What does their Great Uncle Fiddleford do while locked in the basement of his tourist trap for hours? Does the local teenage star hide something behind his smiles made of pearl and deep red amulet? And why does there seem to be something watching them from the forest, waiting for them to move?
