"Mae, show me." He demanded. I knew this would come up someday. My scars are from years ago when I wasn't happy with myself, or happy with anything really. I'm better now but I still don't like showing them to people. Most people ignore them but I knew once Ash saw them that he was going to ask. "Mae." He says again. What if he doesn't like them? What if he thinks they're ugly? What if he hears the story of them and decides he doesn't want me anymore? What do I do then? ... I slowly took off my jacket and showed him my wrist. "Why would you ever do that darling?" Tears started forming in my eyes. "I'm sorry. It was years ago when I wasn't happy and it's a long story." "Darling, look at me." He told me, lifting my chin. "I'm not mad at you. How long has it been since you've done that?" "Five years." "That's amazing, Mae." "You don't hate them?" "I hate that you felt the need to do that, but no, I don't hate them." He kissed my forehead, calming me down.

Blake Turner has one goal: survive the next eighteen months, get her diploma, and disappear. Everything else-her boyfriend, her friends, her once-perfect life-is already gone. All that's left is endurance. Eighteen more months of keeping quiet. Of hiding the truth about what happens behind closed doors. Of pretending everything is fine when nothing is. She can make it. She has to. Liam Cole doesn't do attachments. Not when loyalty to his crew is the only thing that's kept him alive these past two years. Dragged into gang life too young, his world is built on violence, loyalty, and nights that end with no names exchanged. His past haunts him. His future? Already decided. His heart? Off-limits. Hardened. Untouchable. But when he crosses paths with the school's most hated outcast-the quiet girl everyone whispers about-everything he thought he knew begins to unravel. But some secrets refuse to stay buried... And when the truth finally breaks free, it leaves no one untouched.

"Cassie stop. You're going to collapse..."George called softly in the wind. My mind was already elsewhere, detached from my body. I don't know what kept my feet moving, but something did. Keep running. But I can't. I didn't understand what was happening until my knees collided with the ground and my whole body weight sagged underneath. There was no power left in me. Not one ounce. I became my worst nightmare. Weak. "Libellule, come here," His husky tone whispered. I closed my eyes and listened to the comforting sound. Two arms encircled my waist and pulled me into a hard chest. I didn't move though, only slumped into the warmth. George sat down on the dying grass and pulled me into his lap. For the second time today I found myself trapped in the warm embrace of his arms. Worst part was, it felt good. WARNING: Contains bad language, rape, drug use and physical abuse

"I hate you" she spat, looking up from her paper. He rolled his eyes while releasing a quiet chuckle. She glared at him as she turned back to her paper. "I mean it" she said more quietly this time when he didn't respond. He continued to grin at her, earning him an exaggerated eye roll. He scotched his chair close to her desk only to whisper, "I hate you more" in her ear, before turning back to the essay. She scowled at him. This was going to be a long year.
