I knew it... coming to this expedition was a big mistake. I don't want to die... what's worse is I might get eaten when I'm dead. Hopefully I won't get eaten alive. I'm just a common grim reaper. Why is this happening to me? There was blood everywhere and I was on the ground. The entire team was decimated by those traitors. Everybody I know in the squad is gone and my master has fallen. I can't move my body and all I could do was lie on the ground until the boss of the traitors approached me. He grabbed me and lifted me up as I approach death. For a god of death like me, dying is not a part of my résumé. Once a god dies, there is no reincarnation, there is no soul, and there is no second chance, just oblivion so... How did it end up like this?

Essence... spirit... that which gives meaning to life. It isn't the soul which is necessary for life. Even when a mortal has a soul, without essence... the mortal becomes an empty shell existing for nothing. Our father, he created us pure and perfect. He doesn't want us to soil our bodies and so he never gave us body parts for procreation. When we rebelled against him because we wanted to have relationships with our own kind, he had no choice but to allow. But with his decision, we are no longer perfect... but we are still pure. Is it because we were jealous of his other creation that we wished to love and procreate? No that's not the only reason. Perfection can be achieve through completeness. Right now we are like mannequins. I thought that this was the only problem amongst our brethren. Then, some of us requested our father about experiencing rebirth so that they can change erase the accumulated memories from specific essences collected from mortals. The Rebirth System... the main reason for the first war where we fell apart and the second reason why this story exists...

There are gods that specialize in death (The Ballad of Crystl) There are also gods that specialize in essence (The Heart Five) This time, we meet gods that specialize in destiny. Suoic Ipsus is one of those gods. Dressed in all white like a gentleman wearing a monocle while holding a baton, this devious god plays with the destinies of those who are about to die in a vehicular accident. If they win in his game, their destinies would change, but if they lose... "Final Destination". All of the games he plays with mortals end with him winning while the losing mortals meet their end. Always... except when he meets this mysterious mortal only known as... Mr. X
