"Hey Shizu-chan? Can I ask you a question? It's a little personal." Izaya never thought he would find himself in such a situation- talking with Shizuo under the artificial light of cheap stars. On his bed no less. Although he shouldn't have been so surprised, it was happening an awful lot lately. "What is your biggest fear?" He asked without expecting a response, but after a few seconds of pondering he got an answer that was no louder than a whisper. "My biggest fear would have to be..." The ravenette took it upon himself to guess it, but all attempts were fruitless. For all the years Izaya had known the man, he never showed a sliver of fright towards any obstacle. In fact, he himself couldn't understand why he had never been afraid of the other. But lately there had been an inkling of emotion, perhaps a little unpleasant whenever Shizuo walked in the room. It was something that could resemble fear, he realized, but the word left Shizuo's lips before Izaya could dare to think it. After Vorona stabbed Izaya during his fight with Shizuo, he was taken far away from Ikebukuro to see an underground doctor to treat his wounds if he survived. Kine and Manami went back to their lives after hearing Izaya was alive. Shizuo, Shinra, Celty, and others assumed the self proclaimed "god" had died and went on to live their 'normal' lives. (I do not own any of the characters, only the plot of the story!)

Concerned for his best friend, Shinra called his only other constant companion (other than his beloved Celty, of course) to keep an eye on him. Discreetly and with many many favors in his corner.
