They call us the Pyros. We are just like Them-in size, in manner, in form. We speak the same language. We walk by the same synchrony of nerve and flesh and bone, and more importantly-intention. One leg out in front of the other. Switching legs, and repeating. We breathe the same way as Them - the involuntary movement of muscle, the rising of our chests, the filling of our lungs. We may require more oxygen than Them, but in the end, oxygen is a luxury indispensable to both kinds. We share the same senses, for the most part. The sense of taste, of smell, of sight. The sense of hearing-listening to the melodious sounds of nature, music, and laughter intertwined with the cacophony of the city during the day, and the wolves that howl at night. We share the sense of touch-of intimacy, of sensation, of emotion. And the sense of betrayal, and the agony that accompanies it. My mother used to say that the Humans had accidentally destroyed their past home, and had nowhere to go. They needed a place to stay, and We had our home to offer. We welcomed them to Ignis, with open arms, and all-too-trusting smiles. I don't believe in accidents. And subsequently, betrayal became the only sense We knew. -- It was only a matter of time before Humans completely destroyed the Earth. With the weapons they amassed, and the pollution that wreaked havoc on the environment- it was in inevitable their home would become uninhabitable. That was the genesis of the Great Migration. Hundreds of millions of Humans were relocated to the distant planet of Ignis, pre-inhabited by the native Ignites, a superhuman species. At first, there was unity. Ignites and Humans lived peacefully among each other, without problems. Then, there was discrimination. And then, there was genocide.

"This is Westerden Optometrist. What are your symptoms?" "For starters, my eyesight has been super blurry and distorted, and this problem is starting to screw up seventeen-year-old life. Speaking of which, you sound kind of young for an optometrist. How old are you?" "Um, I don't think it'd be the greatest idea for that blurry eyesight of yours to be treated by a guy your own age." Sixteen-year-old Pippa Greene never goes anywhere without her camera. She and her best friend/supermodel-in-training Dace long ago mapped out their life plan: Pippa will be the noted fashion photographer, and Dace the cover girl. But ever since last spring, things have changed for Pippa — and her junior year at Spalding High proves to have its own set of challenges. Not only is Vantage Point, the statewide photography competition, in three short weeks, but her mandatory volunteer placement lands her at St. Christopher’s Hospital, a place Pippa never wanted to set foot in again. With humour and pluck, she navigates her new role as a candy striper (watch out for Code Yellows), her changing relationship with her best friend (goodbye Honesty Pact), and — perhaps most stressful of all — her new love interests (yes, love interests plural). Will Pippa make it to Vantage Point without having a panic attack? Will either one of the guys prove less sketchy than her last boyfriend? Can she and Dace figure out a way to dream big and be best friends? One thing is certain: real life is a lot more complicated than a photograph. New chapter updates every Wednesday!

Okie's fifteen. She lives in New York. She's got a few problems: she's failing geography, her dad's a wimp, and her mother, Sumatra, is a stone cold bitch. But things get a lot worse when Sumatra turns into a zombie and eats Okie's dad. Clio, Okie's grandmother, lives in Toronto; but since the zombie apocalypse, Toronto's a lot further away than it used to be. Clio suggests that Okie transport Sumatra across the border, because family is family. But coaching Okie by cellphone isn't easy, and Clio has some zombies of her own to contend with. Luckily she has some garden tools. Naomi Alderman and Margaret Atwood team up for this unusual two-hander. Encompassing love, death, sex, and the meaning of family, The Happy Zombie Sunrise Home will surprise, delight, and convince you of the vital importance of keeping ready supplies of rhubarb and mini-wieners in your freezer at all times. The story unfolds beginning October 24.

Zoe O’Connor is -- let's put it this way -- just one girl on a mission. When bashful Zoe is made director of the upcoming school play she is less than jubilant upon hearing the casting. Having to direct a play where her crush plays the lead role is agonising, what if he has to kiss the leading female? That would be pure hell, for her, at least.
