For years, the faceless terror known as the Hand of Fate has been secretly manipulating the port city of Reyza for her shadowy ends. Those she favors rise in status while those who betray her are never heard from again. When the opportunity to eliminate a powerful dynasty presents itself, the Hand of Fate conspires with a sadistic diplomat who shares the king's bed. Together, they hatch a plan to assassinate their rivals. The plan is flawless-every variable calculated-except for one. On the night the Hand of Fate's hired assassin makes his move, a notorious thief is also making his. Jarle Jadien has had it with the gray-haired harpy whom he serves and succumbs to the greatest temptation of all: The Ensther estate is home to the king's betrothed and a fortune in jewels. When the risky heist takes a disastrous turn, Jarle finds himself in possession of a treasure he has no intention of keeping. Avaren Ensther is beauty and intrigue in one, and a keeper of secrets that reach far beyond Jarle's world of whiskey and disrepute. Reyza's infamous thief has had his heart stolen from under his nose, but time will tell if his sirenic temptress proves worthy. Within the city walls, a retired war-hero investigates the conspiracy and attempts to uphold justice, but his efforts may not suffice to prevent an all-out war. Too many vengeful plots have festered; too much blood spilled. As the moons reach a cataclysmic alignment, unleashing the terrible force of the tides, neither hero, criminal, nor all-powerful monarch; can escape the tendrils of fate.

"Welcome to the Halfing Academy!" Everett Lily announced proudly, flickering her fingers to produce a combination of fire and lightening. I stared in awe and adoration as my eyes took in the view in front of me. I was here. I was really here. I couldn't believe it. I had heard about the academy in whispers around the castle walls, but never believed it to be true. I never imagined it could actually exist. I never thought that I, the son of a blacksmith could ever make it here. "As Kings and Queens in waiting, your time here will be spent learning the intricacies of all that is... and it is our expectation that when you leave, you will be ready to take up the positions of power your destiny has handed to you." Everett Lily continued, switching her fire and lightening special effect to ice chariots hanging in the air. It was all surreal. Not only did the academy exist, the rumors were true. The greatest magic in all of Terrianus was practiced here and I, a lowly servant to the castle, was going to experience it. "If this is a dream our lady, Feona, I will never forgive you." I muttered to our patron goddess, under my breath. ********************************************************************************** Update schedule for this story is Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Myths. Gods. Humans. These races are widely known for being the pieces that make up Mythology; however, one race has been lost to the recesses of time. Mythians. The forgotten race of peacemakers born to protect the world from war and chaos. Well that's what they told me in class anyway, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Life before Mr. Gale's Mythian Academy was simple: I only ever worried about what I was going to eat for dinner, what book I was going to read next, or whether my siblings would be able to make it through high school after me, but now life's gotten a lot more complicated because before hurling me down a hole, Alice would be jealous of, my headmaster gave me this letter explaining the unbelieveable truth. ⁓⁓⁓ To my dear First Years, The artifact stolen from the Academy is essential for the continuation of our existence. As you continue in your studies at the Academy, if you are successful, you will come to understand what all of this means, but for now, you three are our best chance to retrieve it. I plead with you: do not lose your sense of self and try hard to work together to achieve your final goal. I suggest working together no matter how different your personalities may be. Teamwork will be your salvation. Your Teacher, Mr. Gale P.S. If you're ever lost just check the map. It will guide you throughout your journey. Oh and you must know, every myth that has ever had you in awe, every being that has ever frightened you, and everything you dream of truly exists. Goodluck.
