"I always thought that the first time I'd be on my knees I'd be praying..." I held my breath lowering myself to my knees in front of him, "Then worship," he smirked, "what do you desire?" Being loved by the king of Socrates Academy is haunting, especially when you can not return his affections. When a human renegade is thrown in your path, you'll both end up getting burned. ༒༒༒ Nadya Vladimir was born a glass half empty, she spent most of her life wondering what it felt like to be whole. She's the daughter of the most powerful man in Russia, she was always one step ahead, destine for great things. He's a target. A once in a life time opportunity sends Nadya half way across the globe to Prague. There she's thrown headfirst into a sea of privilege, class and hierarchy at the elite academy. But somethings not quite right at the academy; secret passageways, doors open past midnight, hushed lovers between sheets, her roommate's unspoken past with her politics class rival and new arch nemesis who is none other than Niklaus. But if one thing is certain, it is that Niklaus and Nadya despise each other's existence and everyone knows that if they were ever to collide it would cause a wildfire. Good thing they've both never been good at following the rules.

"What's your problem with me?" "It's not you who's the problem, it's that you came here" he said. "Welcome to a stray's adventure, or as I'd like to call it, welcome to hell" *** A girl who gets stuck in an arcade game with a boy who's already given up. 9 levels, 9 players, the only way out is to finish the 9th level. *** "I'm never playing arcade games ever again" *** Just wanted to inform you all that I rewrote this whole story a year after finishing it, this is the old version, you can find the new version, completed and upgraded, at my profile. I would personally recommend that one instead of this one, but hey, it's up to you. Some weird people have apparently even read both... but majority of those have stated that the rewritten version was better, just putting it out there... *** Started: March 30 2020 Published: June 1 2020 Finished: June 1 2021

This is the original, unedited version of Light as a Feather, Book #1. This book was the inspiration for the Hulu Original Series. The revised version is now available in bookstores throughout the USA & Canada from Simon Pulse. McKenna Brady thinks her junior year of high school is going to be the best ever when she's welcomed into the elite group of popular girls at Weeping Willow High School led by blonde, gorgeous Olivia Richmond. Prior to junior year, McKenna was known in her small town as the girl whose twin sister died in a tragic house fire, and she's overjoyed at the prospect of redefining her identity. She has a date to the Homecoming dance with Olivia's handsome older brother, and a good chance of being elected to student council. For the first time since McKenna's parents divorced, things are looking up. But everything changes the night of Olivia's Sweet Sixteen sleepover birthday party. Violet, the shy, mysterious new girl in town, suggests that the girls play a scary game called Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, during which Violet makes up elaborate stories about the future ways in which beautiful Olivia, brassy Candace, and athletic Mischa will die. The game unsettles McKenna because she's already escaped death once in her life, but she doesn't want to ruin her friends' fun. It's only a game, she reminds herself.
