The world preceded to evolve, changing an upgrading over time, as it was meant to do. But as time passed energy became a resource that wasn't always on hand. This problem led to a small war breaking out; the energy war. The war lasted only 5 years, as it was more of a cold war with a few casualties. The ideal premise behind it was that there wasn't enough energy to keep supplying everything in the technologically dominate world. At the end of the 5 years a solution appeared. Nuclear energy. It had crossed the minds of those before but until that point there was no way to harness it safely. Upon the breakthrough, nuclear energy became the number one source of energy. This caused a rocky peace to be made between the super powers of the world. Now the world is divided into clans of family bloodlines that are linked by common factors such as inheritance abilities. Inheritance abilities are what are known as people's 'powers' that have come from a series of events since such events as the Mountlens escaping. Each clan has been made due to unifying inheritance abilities and most view it as a transgression to mix certain bloodlines due to the prospects of the offspring developing abilities that could be considered too dangerous. Those who knowingly mix certain bloodlines are often executed as well as the offspring if there is no hope in "taming" them. There are still people born without inheritance abilities and are often viewed as lesser than human by certain clans while certain humans see those with inheritance abilities to be monsters. There isn't a set unified government and no actual law, but clans do have rules and taboos that are best to abide by when in their area of control as those in control of the clans tend to make examples based upon the clan in question. The year now is 3249, numerous different factions have sprung up across post war America, there is hell across the wastelands, but this story follows one man. A man that is only known as King.

At first glance, nobody would be able to tell that Nathaniel Jean had a problem. Or second glance, or third, or fourth. After all, he had everything. He was a captain of his school's soccer team and one of the top players in the state. He had a big house and money to spend. He had family, he had friends, he had fun, he had faith. He never meant for it to happen. He never wanted to look at another man in the way he should have been looking at a woman. The idea had disgusted him for most of his life - living in a heavily Catholic town with heavily Catholic parents, homophobia was the only response he knew. That didn't change when he first realized that he didn't like girls. No, Nathaniel Jean was still homophobic. He hated the idea of a man sleeping with another man. He was raised on the notion that all gays went to hell, and he believed it. He despised them, and so he despised himself. Nathaniel Jean was more fortunate than most, because help did arrive for him. Help by the name of Lucas Morgan, they boy he'd always known but never known. The boy with big dreams and bigger talent. The boy that changed Nathaniel's life over the course of their thirty-six week long senior year.
