"Remind me again why I thought spending six weeks with a bunch of hyperactive, sweaty and supposedly 'musically gifted' kids was a good idea?" Bailey Cunningham has gone and taken the plunge - she's not only signed up for the job of a camp counselor at Triple Lakes Camp for Musically Gifted Children, but she's roped her best friend, Savannah, into it too. However, the pair really get more than they bargained for when they discover they'll be sharing their summer with not only the kids, but the guy who looks as if he's stepped out of an Abercrombie and Fitch catalog, the quirky brother, and the sugar-coated flautist who's way too sweet for her own good. In the midst of the madness, only one thing's for sure: Bailey knows absolutely nothing about music.

Follow the story of a girl named McKenzie during her high school experience, re-told years later, when she’s asked to explain her adolescence. McKenzie wasn’t such an ‘average’ teenager, even in her own generations’ eyes. She was the type of girl to party all day and night long, have casual sexual relationships with men years older than her, and do loads of drugs. On top of that, she had to deal with a family that hated her. McKenzie spent her teenage years with no one but herself, and the people inside her head. She had to live through every day pretending she was normal, when she knew she was so far past sane it was unbearable to even think about. How long does it take for a teenage girl that has to deal with all that, to crack? Join McKenzie on her journey of thinking back, and remembering everything she wants to forget.

"I've brought home hallucinations before, but most of them never actually ask to come over, they just follow me." I was used to hallucinating, but there's a point where it just gets too much. I don't like it when cards hit on me. I liked Julia, I wanted her to stay. The elephant was a little annoying, but I could live with it. The giraffe would probably break my table, but I never really ate at it anyways. But cards do not hit on me
