I couldn't help but notice... that he seemed so familiar, even though we had just met a month ago. I bit my lip, as my knees started to wobble. "Jim-..-" His hands traced up my neck to cup my face. Flustered, my hand shot up to his chest to push him away.... But I hesitated. He started to lean closer. I fiddled with my hands, as I realised I might not be able to stop him. Soon he was millimeters from my lips. But he stopped. He exhaled and bit his lip, as though he had snapped out of it. I heard him counting. It was a practice we had taught all the patients to do whenever they felt anxious or impulsive. His forehead hit mine. "Three.... " "Two....." "One...." He removed his hand from my cheek and pulled away, as I felt the warmth of his presence disappear. A part of me was resisting. I clenched my fist, as I felt myself grab his shirt, as I pulled him back in, his body hitting mine. "I..." I exhaled, but no words escaped my mouth. I was too late.
