Dekker Johnson thought it would help heal the world of 2050 from The Breaking when he sold his algorithm that cracks any code or firewall on the planet. And his wife was murdered for it. Now an armed security detail protects him as he moves from one resort destination to another. But when a new member of the security detail is replaced, Dekker is forced to deal with something he's not comfortable with--and AI unit. He quickly find that things are not always what they seem in the new world if AI and quantum computing. The One Within is a near-future, science fiction, urban fantasy short story based in my Soul Jumpers series--a series I have yet to write. It explores the consequences of AI in the new world. BONUS DISCUSSION Also, periodically, I'll be posting chapters after the story's ending which will discuss the dangers of AI. Everyone's encouraged to join in on the discussion if you care to weigh in on the topic. AI is a dangerous venture, which is exactly why we see people like Elon Musk very uneasy about its development.

[New chapter posted every Friday] Would you like to learn how to draw your readers in with your blurb and your opening lines so that they feel they have to keep reading to find out what happens next? Would you like to learn how to craft characters who are so interesting and real that your readers would love to be them and can't help but go through the story with them? Would you like to learn how to craft sentences, paragraphs, and chapters that keep your readers enthralled? Would you like to learn how to prevent writer's block? The Art of Writing will teach you all of these skills and more--everything you need to write a bestseller. You've probably noticed that your first and second chapters have lots of reads, but the chapters after that have very few reads or votes. You can partially blame that on people clicking on the first chapter just to take a quick glance at it and maybe add it to their reading list. But that explanation only goes so far for most Wattpadders. The real reason is more likely that your story isn't written in such a way that really draws a readers in, almost forcing them to keep reading. But you can give your story that edge it needs to become great just by following a few easy guidelines and learning some key techniques for success. In fact, if you haven't already noticed, some of those techniques are being used in this description to give you just enough information about something you want in order to get you hooked. And your stories should do the same. Wattpad is full of writers who have great story ideas but very little training in the skills required to craft an amazing story that really sucks a person in. Which means we end up with endless stories that promise amazing plots but can't deliver on that promise. Not to worry, though. We're about to change all of that. So get ready to learn the skills you need to write a binge-worthy bestseller. ***NOTE: If there's a skill you'd like me to write a chapter about, just let me know***

Using powers can age you, kill you...or drive you mad. Ian Sharp knows none of this when his destructive powers wreck his house near Denver and nearly kill his sister...because no one knows powers exist. He's forced on the run the day before graduation as the ruthless Hunters of a vicious shadow government track him down. Soon, he finds himself in a hidden, underground city built by giants before the great flood. A city full of people with special abilities. But Ian is drawn to the only one without powers-Abby Pierce. Just when the two are growing closer, a Hunter spy frames Ian for murder, getting him exiled. Ian must risk his sanity and depend on an insane teleporting monk to help him find the city again before Abby falls victim to cold-blooded murder. ----- The science, archaeology, theology, and history in the Winter's Edge series are real, except in regard to the direct backstory of the two fictitious underground city. Little-known truths about the world are exposed in the book series with solid, irrefutable evidence from mainstream scientific researchers. Book one gives the readers one large dose of this, but the future novels in the series will truly leave the readers speechless. Told through the eyes of Ian Sharp and Abby Pierce, Winter's Edge is an action adventure urban fantasy for teens and adults alike. Whether it's mystery, twists, a love story, deep philosophical discussion, humor, or loads of tension you're seeking, Winter's Edge delivers it all in a serious yet sometimes hilarious package. ----- [#152 Highest rank in Adventure] [Winter's Edge Series Book 1: This book is fully written, but only one chapter a week will be posted on Fridays and a bonus chapter from time to time, as well.] I'm very responsive to comments, so let me know what you think! #Badassreads #InToAction #grownupreads #teenreads #rebelwars #EWA2018 #YourTrulyAwards
