The People Choice Awards 2019 Winner for Best Diverse Books Never had Autumn thought that she would break up with her boyfriend, Tyler, until the day she met Frazier Ronan, the one person who turned her life upside down, created chaos, and made her defy all her principles. ***** For someone rude and cunning, it surprised me how he could be soft when it came to kissing. He placed soft kisses at the corners of my lips and held my face in his warm hands as his fingers tangled in the hair above my ears, tugging my ponytail and messing with my hair. His brown eyes filled my vision, hard and intense, a direct contradiction to his hot, sensual mouth. The tip of his tongue touched the seam of my lips, and my breath caught in my throat. I could feel a jolt clear in the soles of my feet, a warm tingling that curled my toes and settled in the pit of my stomach. The kiss was tender, almost sweet, and I fought to keep my eyes open and pressed my lips tight. I fought to remind myself that the lips brushing mine, as if he were my lover, belonged to an egomaniac asshole who told lies and swore to make my life miserable. When your bully becomes your knight in shining armor, what would you do?

*COMPLETED* "You think I'd murder you?" He laughed humorlessly. "I- what?" I stuttered, looking at him with a lost expression. If he didn't want to kill me, what was all of this then? "What's your name, speedy?" He asked after shaking his head. "Why would I-I tell you my name?" I tried to sound brave, but this whole scenario was just freaking me out. "I'll find out, eh?" He gave me a smirk. What? "For what? You can just kill me now. I don't want to live like this anymore." I breathed out. I really don't. His loud and obnoxious laugh pulled me out of my thoughts. What's so funny? "You're funny. But-" He took a step closer and I immediately stepped backwards. "-the stunt you pulled last week-" My back hit the wall and I gasped as he stood only a few inches away from me now. His finger lifted my chin and I gulped. "-was not." His smirk was replaced by a serious expression. His eyes were so dark and captivating, I couldn't look away. "And you know what they say, speedy?" He continued as his eyes flickered towards my mouth. I shook my head and his smirk was back. "Keep your friends close. But-" He clenched his jaw. "Keep your enemies closer."

"Have we met before?" Those were the words that seemed to echo through the very depths of our souls. Elena Smith is your typical high-school girl. No, she does not like the spotlight. In fact, she prefers to take the quieter route with much less drama and less people. Her number one enemy is betrayal, wounds may heal but that doesn't mean the scar won't be there. Everybody has a chapter they don't read out loud, everybody is fighting a battle that you know nothing of. Why were people so quick to judge her? None of this matters now for she's stronger, she rose from hell but nonetheless that doesn't mean the pain doesn't come back from time to time. "Smile through the tears." That's what she has been telling herself throughout the years. Diego Matthews, hah! Your typical bad boy, player, womanizer and manwhore... or so you may assume. Was he always like this? Is there a reason that triggered all this insensitivity? Is he fighting a battle nobody knows of? Could she be the one to see the light in him? Will they remember that she was his light a few years back when all he saw was pitch black? People change, but they will soon realise that they have a tied up past. It wasn't their fault, of course. Simply the cause of their suffering... Will they be able to break down each other's walls completely? Lord knows how high they built them. Highest: #67 hilarious
