Elliot Spellman wanted to live; he wanted to feel the rush everyone else did. He was tired of being just some kid in the back of the class who went home every night to study in his bedroom. That was how he found himself in an alley, dealing marijuana. He wanted this, he needed this. Not marijuana, but friends, a group, the thrill. Beatle, Mi, Trick, and Whiskey all agree that he can join them in their unlawful behavior (despite how boring his name is). And they all slowly bond, except Elliot seems to bond with Beatle more than the others. Who in their right mind would ask a teenager to write a 4000 word essay on the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald anyway? To me, English class was simply the fine art of over analyzing very old pieces of literature. It was usually pretty easy for me to string together some intricate sounding sentences about these old novels. My English teacher loved me for it, but for this particular essay, I was utterly incapable of replicating the excellence of my previous work.
