Lucy and Tim have a strong mutual dislike for each other. Whenever they meet, they engage in constant arguments that only end when someone intervenes. One day, Lucy finds herself in need of a place to stay due to apartment renovations. Nyla suggests that she stay at Tim's house until her apartment is ready. Initially, Lucy refuses, but eventually, she gives in because there are no other options available for her to stay for a month.

When Lucy falls in love with a little girl named Fiona that she meets on a call, she wants to foster her, but it would be difficult to get approved as a foster parent as a single woman, so she asks Tim to marry her on paper despite the tension between them after sharing a kiss "for work". Tim agrees for Fiona's sake, but their marriage of convenience quickly gives way to more. Canon divergent after 4x22

Angela Lopez and Tim Bradford are best friends and step siblings, but they could not be any more different. While Tim's only concern is soccer, Angela wants to enjoy herself during her senior year of high school off of the soccer pitch. The new transfer student, Wesley Evers, shows interest in her immediately, and she would love to explore their connection further, but her stepdad has strictly forbidden her from dating in high school...unless Tim dates, too. The problem: absolutely no one is interested in dating him due to his gruff and grumpy demeanor. All hope of Wes and Angela being together seems lost until a plan is hatched to get Tim to date the nicest girl in school that he has absolutely nothing in common with aside from laser focus on her own goals: Lucy Chen. Title shares the name with a song by Letters to Cleo. Loosely based on the movie "10 Things I Hate About You".
