What if Billy took Steve, instead of Heather...? ++ season 3 canon-divergent AU | harringrove-centric | roots back in s2, starts in s3e2, and yeah, it's definitely all downhill from here ++ Steve doesn't really know how to explain how he, his 17-year-old Scoops coworker, and the like ninety middleschoolers that stalk him have all ended up trying to basically exorcise Steve's not-boyfriend at midnight in the pouring rain in his mom's brand new jacuzzi, but here they are. CONTENT WARNINGS: The overall content level of this fic is pretty canon-typical of s3/s4 (but gayer. And with a lot more of the word fuck. like a lot. yikes.) Potentially spoiler-y content warnings below. Peruse as needed & take care of yourself! Adult language, non-graphic consensual sex (often while both are intoxicated) implied, referenced, and otherwise. General dark and violent imagery in places. Mention of past child abuse (thanks, Neil Hargrove's A+ Parenting). Drinking (maybe... less underage drinking than in the show, actually??), smoking (legal and less so), and general non-role-model behavior is on display, so I would maybe recommend taking... oh, zero guidance from this fic?? They're pretty dumb, Do Not Recommend, et cetera. (Feel free to ask me if you have a specific concern.)

This is not a scolarly article but rather, something I started writing for myself, to define the different genres better and to see where I was going with my own writing. The point was to gather my favourite literary genres that were related to each other, to define them and to see what were their key concepts and tropes, and to compare them to each other. It also helped me understand what my sources of inspiration were, where I was treading, and to find new sources of inspiration. In this "book", I'll try to define these genres, list some of their tropes and concepts, give some cultural and historical background, list some authors who have contributed to these genres worldwide, and then draw parallels with the other arts (for instance, one can't talk about Romanticism in literature without mentioning it in music and visual arts). Here are the genres I'll be discussing: * Dark Romanticism * Gothic Fiction * Fantastique * Cosmic Horror Let me know if there's another similar genre you'd like me to discuss here.
